The Tooth Fairy was a Canadian custom, to congratulate
small children for loosing their teeth! The implied message, you have suffered with your baby teeth, so you can have some
fun now.
The parent helped the child place the lost tooth in a saucer or envelope
on the night table beside their bed. While the child slept, the Tooth Fairy flew into the house, similar to the entrance of
Santa Claus, but she was smaller, so it was easier for her to enter.
The Tooth Fairy then
removed the tooth, and laced s small amount of money on the child's night table.
Parents now even in China express interest in this Western treat for children!
