This was a regular Thanksgiving custom.
I expect some religious fanatics to turn up, reminding us that this might have heathen roots, and that is too bad,
because everything that was fun in our lives cannot be shoved aside.
My mother did this
with us, because her own mother did it at her childhood house, etc. The bone from the turkey that resembled a horseshoe
shape was held up by my mother, and we each pulled one side. It was a game to break the bone, into two parts.
The larger side won.
