Dinner: The Food We Used To Eat!

Though Canadians and Americans may find this a boring topic, I can assure you that millions of people in China find precise details of our food shopping and food routines quite interesting.

So I write these areas for newcomers to our countries.

I exclude holiday, snack, and party foods. These meal plans are the Default.

The basic plan was Meat, Potato, and Vegetable.  The North American diet for millions of people.

Meat:

My mom used chicken and medium grade minced beef in most of her recipes. We were fussy eaters as well, with me never wanting to eat any meat all, and my brother just as difficult in his own way.

minced beef patties
hamburgers
shepherd's pie
fried chicken
creamed chicken
roast chicken
roast beef
spaghetti

Potatoes:

Boiled potatoes
Baked potatoes, with sour cream
Roast potatoes
French fried potatoes
Scalloped potatoes
Mashed potatoes, with butter

Vegetables:

Carrots
Peas
Beans
Asparagus
Mixed vegetables
Corn
Corn on the cob

Dessert:

Ice cream, from the supermarket, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, Neapolitan, or maple
Jello
Royal Instant Pudding
Cakes
Pies

Our taste buds were so damaged by addiction to sugar, that most vegetables tasted very odd.  The meat, potatoes, and vegetables, were rushed through, to get to the dessert!
